
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, the deputy mayor, Rosario Martínez, the councilor for Youth, Domingo Paredes, the councilor for Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón and the councilor for Beaches, Antonio Vidal, along with a group of 20 young people, attended the cleaning of said area, from 09:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., resulting in the collection of almost 3,000 kilograms (2,900 kilos) of garbage.
Councilors Federico Alarcón and Antonio Vidal, wearing a neoprene suit, were cleaning the interior of the canal, collecting waste such as mattresses, car wheels, shopping carts and a long etcetera, in addition to those found in the area by our young volunteers, such as a television, a door, drawers or bottles.
For this reason, the conclusion of all the participants of the wonderful day is that citizens must be aware that the main aspect that most deteriorates nature is the actions of human beings.
Thus, education and environmental awareness help us realize that every action we carry out in our daily lives has an impact on the environment. All together, contributing our grain of sand, we can live in a better world.
