Come and discover the Playas Vivas Project and discover the incredible biodiversity of our coasts!

The Playas Vivas Project, developed by the Faunatura Association, is an initiative that aims to promote the conservation of the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta), the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) and the rest of the fauna and flora species present on the beaches south of Alicante, making tourism development and the conservation of wild species compatible.

Sightings of loggerhead turtles are becoming more frequent on our coasts during the summer season and it is expected that the number of nesting attempts on Levantine beaches will continue to increase in the coming years. Through volunteer, awareness and environmental education campaigns, we will tour the beaches of southern Alicante in search of nests and traces left by turtles, and we will make the public aware of the importance of aquatic ecosystems, the rich marine biodiversity present in our coasts, and how, together, we can improve the health of our seas.

All the actions programmed in this project have been devised within the framework of the objectives and goals of the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development, and aim to reduce impacts on the environment.

The Faunatura Association is an NGO dedicated to the study and conservation of wild flora and fauna, as well as the ecosystems of which they are a part, through the development of species monitoring programs, environmental restoration and citizen participation.
